Since 1903, the Yarborough House was occupied by Charles Richard and Nannie Jane Spear Yarborough and three generations of their descendants. United States Senator Ralph Webster Yarborough was born there in 1903. In the house, Charles R. Yarborough, serving as Justice of the Peace, performed many marriage ceremonies. There, he and Mrs. Yarborough celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on June 13, 1939. On Jan. 1, 1959, he administered to his son the oath of office as Senator of the United States. C.R. Yarborough died there on Oct. 24, 1964, at the age of 100 years and 11 days.
