The Confederacy is honored through President Jefferson Davis, soldiers who fought for states' rights in the CSA, and the women of the Confederacy, whose heroism, sacrifices, patriotism, and devotion to the South are praised as without parallel in history and whose memory is to be forever honored and cherished. The monument was given by comrade James C. Purnell to the Statham-Farrell Camp of United Confederate Veterans, and its monumental committee included Commander G.J. Weisinger, Adjutant J.C. Wadsworth, J.R. Binford, Colonel, 15th Miss. Inft., John B. Simpson, first commander of camp, and Thos. T. Hamilton, Company K, 11th Miss. Inft.
