Erected in A.D. 1930, this memorial honors all persons from Centerville and adjacent communities who rendered service in the military and naval forces of the United States of America. It honors those who served in the World War from 1917 to 1919 and remembers those who made the supreme sacrifice: Emmet Axton, Mike Cole, Carl Hanson, Asa Rager, Earl Anderson, Mahlon McCune, Adolph Tonetti, Raymond Hancock, Robert Santee, and Wilbur Wise. It also remembers the soldiers and sailors of the War of 1812 from 1812 to 1814, the Revolutionary heroes of 1775 to 1781 who won the nation's independence, the soldiers and sailors who served in the Spanish-American War from 1898 to 1899, and the soldiers and sailors of the Civil War from 1861 to 1865 who saved the Union.
