The route from Marthasville to Dutzow spans 3.7 miles and soon crosses Tuque Creek on a 190-foot-long through-truss bridge, one of eight bridges the Katy Railroad rebuilt between New Franklin and Machens after abandoning its Moberly-Hannibal line in 1923 and shifting entirely to the Missouri River route for access to St. Louis and Chicago. Near milepost 75.8, the Boone Monument marks the former gravesite of Daniel Boone, whose family moved from Kentucky to what is now Missouri in 1799 under Spanish land grants; Boone was buried there in 1820, Rebecca Boone had died in 1813, and both bodies were removed to Frankfort, Kentucky, in 1845, though local folklore holds that Kentucky received the wrong bodies. Other Boone family members and slaves are buried there as well. Farther along, Dutzow stands in a broad gap in the Missouri River bluffs beside a wide agricultural floodplain formed from former islands including Boeuf, Miller, and Watkins. Along this stretch are also an unusual arched concrete bridge over a tributary of Lake Creek built in 1912 and the Tuque Creek through-truss bridge built in 1926 by the American Bridge Company.
