During fair week at The Great Danbury State Fair, patrons commonly said, "Meet Me at Uncle Sam." A symbol of American might and democracy, Uncle Sam returned to Danbury, where he had stood proudly at the fair from 1971 - 1981. The iconic fiberglass figure, the tallest Uncle Sam statue in the world, stands 38 feet tall. After decades in Lake George, he came back to his forever home in Danbury through the efforts of Mayor Mark Boughton, dedicated city staff, and area residents and businesses.
