Pacific type (4-6-2) steam locomotive #3417 was delivered to the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Company in 1919 and was assigned to Cleburne Passenger Service for most of its 35 years and two million miles of active operation. During its years of active service, the locomotive was operated by Cleburne-based crews and serviced, maintained, and overhauled in the Santa Fe shops at Cleburne. The engine was retired by the Santa Fe and donated to the city in 1955, and placed in Cleburne's Hulen Park, where it has been visited, admired, and photographed for 65 years. Hundreds of area AT&SF employees had roles in the life of #3417.
