Leon Henry Church, born September 11, 1906, and died November 8, 1983, centered his life and work for 44 years at the Lebanon Advertiser. He was the namesake of the Lebanon historical Boy Scout trail, founded the Lebanon Historical Society, led the effort to preserve Emerald Indian Mound, served as a Boy Scout leader for 67 years, and, with his wife Helen, received the McKendree Collage Peter Akers Cup three times for outstanding alumni service to the college.
