Designed by Barber-McMurry architects, this center hall Colonial style home was built in 1938 for Mrs. Cora Medaris, who lived from 1885 to 1970 and was the widow of Glenn C. Medaris, owner of Clinton Drug Store and mayor of Clinton from 1924 until his death in 1929. The earlier Medaris home stood on Main Street, then known as Jacksboro St, until 1938, when the historic Post Office building was constructed on that site. Cora Medaris was a charter member and president of the Timely Topics Club of Clinton and the Garden Club, and she was also a member of Memorial Methodist Church. She and Mayor Medaris had one daughter, Celdon Medaris Lewallen. A tribute to Cora Medaris in the local newspaper called her a lady whose charm and graciousness reflected the Old South.
