Rainbow Bridge is one of the world's largest known natural bridges and has inspired people throughout time, from neighboring American Indian tribes who consider it sacred to the 85,000 people from around the world who visit it each year. It is sacred to cultures that are honored and respected there. Summers are extremely hot with little, if any, shade; winters are moderately cold with nighttime lows often below freezing; spring weather is highly variable with extended periods of strong winds; and fall is generally mild. Temperatures range from 110°F (43°C) in June and July to 20°F (-7°C) in December and January. Although precipitation is generally less than 6 inches (15 cm) annually, both heavy rains and flash flooding can occur, particularly during the summer monsoon season.
