Cold Meadows Guard Station is a historic ranger station northeast of McCall, Idaho, in the Frank Church–River of No Return Wilderness within the Payette National Forest. In an exceptionally isolated landscape, it ranked among the most remote guard or ranger station complexes in the lower forty-eight states. The complex evolved over time rather than being built all at once: its earliest known building, the log-and-canvas Fly Shed, dates to 1918, and the rest was complete by 1935. Its historic listing recognized five contributing buildings and one contributing structure. The station is significant as a surviving backcountry administrative outpost shaped by the practical demands of forest and wilderness management in central Idaho.
