An Army anti-aircraft missile base, Battery C, 85th AA Guided Missile Battalion, once stood here and provided air defense to the community from 1956 to 1962. This Nike missile was dedicated on July 4, 1980 by the City of Riverview, whose mayor was Peter Rotteyeel and whose council included Jay C. Brown, Jack Kesterson, Donald R. Capezza, Honor Shoemaker, Thomas Iverson, and Jill Zick.
