In 1844, Reverend Jonathon Davis founded the Methodist Episcopal Church to serve the community of Davis, then known as the village of Brooklyn. In 1846, the congregation built the town's first church. The present church, dating from 1895, is a unique Victorian era church because of its spindles, shingles, and sunbursts, features more typically found on residences of the period. In 1968, the church was renamed Davis United Methodist Church.
