Norwalk Square was erected from 1951 to 1954 by Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company as an investment in American enterprise to serve the people of Norwalk and southeastern Los Angeles County, undertaken in behalf of the company's half-million policyholders. The company logo showed a famous Giant Redwood view with a cutout for the road to go through and the words "Giant of the Pacific" 1866. Architect Stiles Clements and contractor Jackson Brothers were responsible for the project.
