Pipestem Knob Primitive Baptist Church stood near this high point at Pipestem and was moved when the park was built. From this elevation, the view faces east across the Appalachian Plateau, through a gap in the mountains to the southeast where New River and the Appalachian Trail come through the Ridge and Valley region of the Appalachians, west to Flat Top Mountain on the horizon, and north along WV Rt. 20 to the community of Pipestem.
