Daddy Bird Eye is the grandmother tree in a story world of seven trolls, a mother and father and their five evelings, who grew up in a forest somewhere under the horizon. The grandmother is a mighty ancient tree and the beacon of the forest, and without her they all grow aimlessly. The story places the viewer in the center of the action as the narrator who decides what happens next. The trolls of Ohspecies have learned through evolution to fear humans, who see the oldest trees and kill them, cut them down, chop them into tiny pieces, haul them away, and burn them in town. To protect the grandmother tree, the trolls cast a spell so no human can find her and she looks like any other tree. When the moon is dark and the red wolves howl and blow, the trolls begin their search of the park. The tale points to seven secret symbols on the Trollmap and places one troll in Harbor, one in High Point, and five in Dix Park. Daddy Bird Eye is Thomas Dambo No. 169.
