In perpetual remembrance, prisoners of war and those missing in action are honored as people who still march though their footsteps make no sound and still serve though they do not answer when their names are called. They shall not grow old as the living grow old; age will not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, they will be remembered. Grateful memory is also given to Maj Charles A. Hawkins, USA, Ret., and his wife Eva Clements Hawkins, whose singular generosity helped make this memorial a reality.
