Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke at Eudora A.M.E. Zion Church on March 18, 1968, to rally support for the Poor People's Campaign. Two months later, Southern Christian Leadership Conference president Ralph Abernathy met there with community members and protestors from Memphis to plan their march to the Quitman County Courthouse in opposition to the arrest of SCLC organizer Willie Bolden.
