Near the Forbes Road, later the Lincoln Highway, the Everett Foundry and Machine Shop supplied machine parts, welded pieces, molds, and bells. Josiah and Jeremiah Baughman started the business in 1854. After the original wooden building burned in the 1870s, it was rebuilt in brick at a cost of $3,500. Since the mid-1970s, the foundry has served as a private residence and art studio. Nearby, the Patton House, built in 1738 and identified as the oldest house in Everett, served over the years as an inn, law office, tailor shop, and parsonage as well as a private residence.
