Robert Hatton was born Nov. 2 1826. He was elected to the General Assembly of Tenn. in 1855 and to the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress in 1859. He was elected Col. 7th Tenn. Reg. May 27, 1861, appointed Brig. Gen. May 23, 1862, and fell May 31, 1862 while leading his Tenn Brigade in the Battle of Seven Pines, VA. In youth he embraced Christianity as the true science of manhood.
