Elephant Butte is a summit in Hidalgo County in southwestern New Mexico, situated on the Cowboy Rim of the Animas Mountains. Rising to 6,361 feet, or 1,939 meters, it is one of the named high points in this rugged mountain landscape and forms part of the distinctive terrain of the region.
