George A. Osborn, born in 1823 and died in 1902, and Margaret Osborn, born in 1827 and died in 1914, were the parents of Chase S. Osborn. Margaret Osborn began active medical practice here in 1860, and George A. Osborn had practiced in Ohio before 1850. Chase S. Osborn, born here in a log cabin on January 22, 1860, became a naturalist, "Iron Hunter," author, world citizen, friend of the Indian, and Governor of Michigan in 1911 and 1912.
