Irish priest Father Arthur McSwiggan came to this community around the time of the First World War and served it until 1928. He directed the building of a church, rectory, and school on the old county road. Through his own personal effort and money, he gave those of the holy faith this burial ground of Saint Paul Cemetery, and his foresight allowed the community to continue burying its beloved dead in hallowed ground. Bishop John Swint called him to Corpus Christi in Warwood, West Virginia, where he died. His bones rest with fellow priests in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Wheeling, West Virginia. He died January 27, 1934, remembered as a priest forever.
