Woodshed
History
4
The house was heated only by stoves fueled with wood, taking advantage of the plentiful trees on the farm. Trees felled by winter storms were cut into large logs in the spring and left to dry until fall, when they were split into small pieces for the stoves. The open part of this building held the stacked wood, while the closed part stored saws, axes, wedges, and a sharpening wheel.
