Old Dillard Cemetery contains approximately 150 known graves, many bearing the family names of early settlers in the area, including Cottrell, Coleman, Huitt, and Mischke. The oldest burial is Eliza Wisdom, who died in 1853; she was a relative of Francis Wisdom, owner of the area's first gristmill. At the back of the cemetery stands the large dark gray granite monument of Marie Mischke, who lived from 1872 to 1944 and was the sister of Emil Mischke, builder of the mill known as Dillard Mill. Marie Mischke bought the mill from her brother in 1907, owned it for 10 years, and then sold it back to him. Older longtime area residents vividly remembered her in an ankle-length skirt doing "a man's work" running the mill.
