The ride now known as the home-grown Bobsleds began as the park's Junior Coaster, with boxy cars running on flat tracks on a simple two-level structure. In the Sixties, park owner George Long decided to make it more thrilling after visiting Disneyland in California and seeing its new Matterhorn coaster and tubular track configuration. He then modernized the coaster with tubular track, banked curves, and a new third level, and in 1962 the Bobsleds coaster opened and became widely recognized as a one-of-a-kind classic among enthusiasts.
