Atterbury-Bakalar Air Museum
Military
At Columbus Municipal Airport in Columbus, Indiana, the Atterbury-Bakalar Air Museum connects local aviation history with the military legacy of Atterbury and Bakalar through aircraft, artifacts, and preserved base structures. Its development began in 1988 with the arrival of an F-4 for display, followed by dedication of the main building in 1992 and restoration of the former base chapel in 1998 as the Lewellen Memorial Chapel. Later additions included A Century of Flight, major building expansions, barracks and restoration exhibits, and the display of a C-119 in 2021. The museum also interprets local industry and base life alongside aviation technology.
