Grand Boulevard and its beauty were the product and vision of Captain Samuel Gwin and his wife, Sally, who built this home in 1912 for themselves and their five children, Mildred, Samuel, Elizabeth, Sara, and Eleanor. Sally planted the oak trees along the boulevard, and for many years they have provided, and will continue to provide, a path and inspiration to all who travel there. In 1995, Sara Gwin Kelsh, one of the five children, together with her nieces and nephews, allowed the home to be purchased. Sara Gwin "Saizie" Kelsh left a legacy of love, honor, integrity, and humor to her children, Pat, Sara, Helen, Hub, and Mary, and to her dear friend Johnnie Wiggins, and her memory endures among the giant oaks of her forefathers and in the vision of the earth's creatures she dearly loved.
