Opened on June 14, 1956, south of Stephens City on Valley Pike, U.S. 11, this outdoor cinema became one of Virginia’s few surviving drive-ins. Built by William F. Dalke Jr. and later managed within his family, it preserved classic features such as double features, speaker poles, a playground, and a concession stand even as it adapted to changing times. After James Kopp leased it in 2009, the theater modernized its operations and shifted to digital projection with community support. Following Kopp’s death in 2021, the theater closed in 2025, then was purchased for reopening in 2026 under the new name Historic Route 11 Drive-In Theatre.
