Henry Street Hudspeth was a Confederate veteran who served in the Civil War as captain of Company B, 2nd Regiment, Arkansas Cavalry. Born in Mississippi, he came to Texas in 1877 and, after moving here in 1888, served as county clerk. He married Elizabeth A. Royal, and one of his five children was U.S. Congressman C. B. Hudspeth.
