The John D. Haynes House in Fort Wayne, Indiana, is a modest Usonian home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, built with glass, red tidewater cypress, Chicago Common Brick, and a red concrete slab. Its layout differs from Wright’s more usual plan: a central gallery meets the rear of the great room, while a music room and three bedrooms extend from it, forming an exterior T shape. Set within the original Wildwood Park landscape plan by Arthur Asahel Shurcliff, the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004 and later became the focus of a dispute over its local historic designation, which ultimately remained in place.
