A structure built on this site in the 1800's housed Ripberger Furniture until it was destroyed in the devastating fire of 1928. The current building was constructed in the 1940's, but its original ornate commercial brick façade melted away during the 1965 fire that destroyed the three-story Winn Brothers Furniture Building across the street. Soon afterward, a stucco façade was added and the building was remodeled for Coles Department Store, which occupied the space until the late 1990's. After a full renovation in 2011, the building became home to Kim Moody Design and the retail store trend.
