Broody House
Industry
3
To increase the number of chickens, some hens had to brood by sitting on their eggs for about three weeks until the eggs hatched into chicks. These broody hens were kept separate from the rest of the flock so they and their chicks would not be bothered by other chickens or roosters. A chicken-wire fence stood on the outside of the building.
