The Iron Range Historical Society is a nonprofit museum and research library in McKinley, Minnesota, dedicated to preserving the history of Minnesota’s Iron Ranges. Incorporated in 1973, it previously operated in Gilbert, Biwabik, and Aurora, reflecting a regional mission. Supported by donations and volunteers, it maintains especially strong local and family history collections, including more than 20,000 photographs, newspapers, city directories, books, maps, mine records, selected vital and hospital records, and some logging and mining artifacts. It also publishes a quarterly newsletter and has contributed to preservation efforts, including helping save the last remaining Corsica Mine smokestack near Elcor in 1976.
