Bloodshed on the Edmund Pettus Bridge must fuel the resolve to secure the right to vote in perpetuity. This park was designed and donated by Hank and Rose Sanders to honor their parents, Rev. D.A. and Ora Lee Gaines and Sam and Ola Mae Sanders, who represent the thousands of African Americans whose work and faith form the pillars of the Civil Rights Movement.
