A once marshy area was transformed into a picturesque public pleasure ground in 1897 through the landscaping of trees, flower gardens, and pathways, and it was named Victoria Park in honour of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee that same year. In 1967, during the Centennial of Confederation, the Harvard Trainer Memorial was placed in Victoria Park to honour those who died during the war and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Today, visitors can still enjoy Victoria Park's wading pools, play structures, walking paths, picnic areas, and more.
