Stephen F. Austin's Cabin
History
3
Stephen F. Austin’s only Texas home stood in the capital city of San Felipe. Austin, known as the “Father of Texas,” opened the Anglo-American colonization of Texas. His cabin welcomed pioneers and statesmen of the era and witnessed many crucial events leading to the Texas Revolution. Bricks from the original 1828 cabin were preserved in the chimney of a later authentic replica.
