Hobart, Indiana, honors its war dead in loving memory, naming local men lost in World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and the Global War on Terrorism. The memorial associates World War I with 1917–1918, World War II with 1941–1945, Korea with 1950–1955, and Vietnam with 1964–1975, and it includes the inscription, “The responsibility for freedom falls on all free men.” It was erected by Hobart Post 54 of the American Legion, with flags placed under the perpetual care of Rees Funeral Home, and was dedicated on July 4, 1984.
