The Cathedral Group forms the highest mountain cluster in the Teton Range within Grand Teton National Park, occupying the range’s central high section above Jackson Hole between Cascade and Avalanche canyons. Its steep, pyramidal alpine peaks were carved by glaciation, with Grand Teton rising more than 7,000 feet above the valley floor as the group’s highest summit and Wyoming’s second-highest mountain. Other major peaks include Mount Owen, Middle and South Teton, Teewinot Mountain, and several others, most above 12,000 feet. About half of the Teton Range’s remaining glaciers lie here, and their movement created cirques, arêtes, hanging valleys, U-shaped valleys, and lakes such as Jenny, Bradley, and Taggart.
