Kelleys Island State Park, established in 1956 on Lake Erie, covers about one quarter of Kelleys Island with 677 acres for public use. About 13 miles northeast of Port Clinton, Ohio, it offers a sand beach, campground, and six miles of hiking trails while preserving evidence of the island’s industrial history in the ruins of lime kilns and quarries tied to limestone extraction. The park is also part of a broader protected landscape that includes Glacial Grooves State Memorial, North Shore Alvar State Natural Area, and North Pond State Nature Preserve, making it a major access point to the island’s geology and shoreline habitats.
