Hickory Creek Wilderness is an 8,663-acre protected area in the Bradford Ranger District of Pennsylvania’s Allegheny National Forest, established in October 1984 as one of only two designated wilderness areas in the forest. Centered on the valleys of East Hickory Creek and Middle Hickory Creek, it includes gently to moderately rolling terrain rising from creek bottoms to a plateau. Its forest is dominated by black cherry and beech, with hemlock, oak, maple, birch, and some large white pine, supporting rich plant life and abundant wildlife. Primitive travel follows old railroad grades and the largely undeveloped 11.6-mile Hickory Creek Trail, while some routes were blocked by a 1985 tornado.
