Newlyweds Isaac Boyer and Carrie Feldberg Boyer moved into this refined, hipped-roof two-story home within a year of their 1907 marriage, and it may have been built to order. The house features Colonial Revival style details including a symmetrical façade, Acanthus leaf designs in the leaded glass windows, egg-and-dart molding, original molded ceilings, and a hand-carved fireplace. Isaac Boyer was a successful merchant and active Helena community member who served as president of the Helena Mercantile Club, president of Temple Emanuel, and a member of the King Solomon Masonic lodge, reflecting Helena’s well-integrated and respected Jewish community. After Isaac died at age 62 in 1925, Carrie sold the home in 1929 to physician Thomas Hawkins and his wife Harriet. The Hawkins built a rear addition in the early 1930s, raised four children there, and kept the home through Thomas Hawkins’s long Montana medical career, his avid flying, and his service as president of the Montana Pilots Association in the 1930s, until his death at age 85 in 1980.
