Killens Pond State Park in central Delaware occupies a landscape shaped by both deep history and later development. Long before the park opened, Native Americans used this stretch of the Murderkill River for hunting camps and homes, and in the late eighteenth century a millpond was created here, forming the basis of the modern pond setting. Delaware opened the park in 1965 around the seventy-five-acre pond, and it has since become a year-round recreation area. Boating, fishing, hiking, biking, camping, picnicking, disc golf, and family attractions draw visitors to one of the region’s established outdoor destinations.
