Hadwen Arboretum is a twenty-six-acre forest and botanical garden in Worcester, Massachusetts, owned by Clark University and valued as both a city green space and part of Worcester’s trail network. It began with land bought in 1843 by Obadiah Hadwen, who built a farmhouse there and planted more than one hundred varieties of trees, some of which still survive. After his death in 1907, he left the property to Clark University for students’ agricultural, historical, and arboreal education, and in 1931 Amie Coes added neighboring land. Revived since 2019, the arboretum now includes improved access, new plantings, a community garden, and links to major local trails.
