The Mount Pleasant "Liberal" Club, an organization whose members were usually former Mormons, built this hall in 1875 as a meeting place and social center. Here the Presbyterian minister and educator Reverend Dr. Duncan J. McMillan began his missionary work in Central Utah and, on April 19, 1875, opened a free school that eventually became the Wasatch Academy.
