Maple Canyon lies in the northeastern San Pitch Mountains in northern Sanpete County, Utah, opening into the northwestern Sanpete Valley south of Fountain Green and just northwest of Freedom at an elevation of 6,017 feet. Nearly all of the canyon, except its western end, is within the Uinta National Forest. It is significant as a recreation area for rock climbing, camping, hiking, and other outdoor use, and its distinctive cobblestone rock has made it a well-known destination for sport climbing.
