Deerfield Township High School was home of the Eagles and developed through a sequence of school buildings in Clarksburg from 1893 to 1965: a high school and elementary school in 1893, a separate high school in 1911, the completion of Deerfield Township High School in 1914, the move of a community building to the site in 1922, the completion of Clarksburg High School in 1936, a gymnasium and classrooms in 1938, and a cafeteria and classrooms in 1965. The Clarksburg school superintendents during this period were Jacob Selig, 1889 to 1890; J W Reynolds, 1890 to 1903; R S Ewing, 1903 to 1905; E C Hedrick, 1905 to 1908; F V Bouit, 1908 to 1909; J L Fortney, 1909 to 1914; JG White, 1914 to 1918; Pryor B Timmons, 1918 to 1964; and Arthur G Shomate, 1958 to 1965.
