Navajo Bridge was completed in 1928 in Arizona as a 616-foot arch with a total length of 834 feet and a height of 467 feet. The project was carried out by the Arizona State Highway Commission and its engineering organization in cooperation with the United States Department of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the bridge was fabricated and erected by the Kansas City Structural Steel Co. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior on August 31, 1981, and was designated a National Historical Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1998.
