Crooked River National Grassland is a protected federal grassland in Jefferson County in north-central Oregon, covering 173,629 acres. Set in a dry interior landscape, it is shaped in part by the Deschutes and Crooked rivers, both designated National Wild and Scenic Rivers, which run through the area. Managed by the U.S. Forest Service together with Ochoco National Forest, with administration based in Prineville and local ranger district offices in nearby Madras, it preserves a large expanse of central Oregon rangeland and river corridor. Its importance lies in the combined protection of both the land and its waterways, giving the area a distinct conservation role.
