The Potterville United Methodist Church grew out of a revival meeting held in Potterville by Reverend Hiram Nichols in 1867. The congregation appointed a building committee in 1875 and began work on the church in the spring of 1877 on land donated by George M. Potter, and the church was dedicated on February 3, 1878. After the Methodist Church merged with the Evangelical United Brethren Church in 1968, it took its present name. When constructed in 1877, the church seated three hundred people and had its main entrance at the southeast corner. From 1920 to 1923, under the guidance of head carpenter John Griffith, it was remodelled and enlarged. Much of the original woodwork on the windows and gables was removed, but the stained glass windows and the bell remained, and the church retained its L-shape, frame structure, and high gable roofs.
