Chilocco Indian School provided academic, agricultural, and vocational training for Indian youth from across the U.S. Established by Act of Congress in 1882, it had Jasper M. Hadley as its first superintendent. Handsome stone buildings were erected, and the first pupils, Kiowa and Comanche children, entered in January 1884. Its first graduating class was in 1894.
